EBooks are a fantastic way of making money online. More and more eBooks are released by the day. So how can we guarantee a market for our ebook? Using my simple ‘under the radar’ techniques we can get our target market to tell us exactly what they want without them even realising it. This is where Newsgroups and Forums rule.

Ebooks are extremely popular because they can be sent via email or instant download. Yet people still pay anything from ten dollars to one hundred dollars plus for them.

Can you make big bucks from ebooks? Hell yes. A Grandmother made over eight million selling an ebook called “How I Cured My Arthritis”. All we have to do is find a hungry market and then provide them with exactly what they want. If you hit a home run your cash worries could be over.

The question is how do you find that market? And once you've found them how do you know exactly what that market wants? Well there is one simple answer that could potentially make you a lot of money very quickly. Newsgroups and forums. The internet has a newsgroup and forum for literally every subject you can think of. If someone has an interest in it then there will be a forum or newsgroup on it. You can find an endless supply of them at www.groups.google.com and www.groups.yahoo.com 

Here’s a step by step summary of how this all works:

Step One. Decide on which niche market to sell to - e.g. Health, Golf, Making Money, Fishing etc.

Step Two. Place a polite message on as many newsgroups and forums as you want to asking people what things they would desperately like to know about the category. Tell them that if they help, you will provide them with a complimentary copy of the book when it's finished. This costs you nothing (remember eBooks are all sent via email or download) and convinces them to spend a little time on your project.

Step Three. You go back to the news groups/forums a week or so later and jot down all the questions they want answered.

Step Four. Search for the answers to the questions and copy and paste them onto a word document.

Step Five. Rewrite the answers in your own words, tidy it up, convert it into a PDF format and your ready to go!

Step Six. Give a ghost writer at www.elance.com all of the notes and ask them to make it into a book for you.

Now let me explain this strategy in a little bit more detail:

First, you want to come up with a subject that interests you. You don’t have to know anything about it but it helps if it’s something you are passionate about. What magazines do you read? What specialist TV shows do you watch? What do people come to you and ask questions about?

Next, write down ten or twenty questions and go to newsgroups and forums to ask people to answer those questions. If your subject matter was health (the hot topic of the moment) you could ask "what is your main concern about your health?" etc. Then you locate health forums and post the questions there.

To encourage people to answer your questions you offer them a special mention in your book or a complimentary copy of the book once it's finished. What you’re effectively doing is planting an internet 'seed'. Later you go back to the site and you’ll find that dozens if not hundreds of people have answered your questions. Often people will have told you which questions they desperately want the answer to.

Then all you do is research the information they want to know about, write it all down, tidy it up a bit and hey presto you've got an eBook that the specific market has TOLD you they wanted created. You can research the questions they want the answers to by just searching on google. There are answers to every question on the net - you've just got to spend a bit of time looking for them. It is for this reason – time - that people don't search the net for themselves. But they sure as hell would buy a book with all the information they wanted in it.

You don't just have to limit yourself to an eBook either. If the people are snapping up your eBook product then chances are they'll love it as a paper and ink product to so think about advertising it through direct mail/mail order and bringing in even more profits.




This really is the easiest way to create a hot selling internet product that your market will love in the fastest possible time.

In past eBay tutorials, we talked about how people on eBay are willing to pay to learn what you already know - and the best way to convey (and sell!) that information to them is through an electronically delivered book, or "ebook". We talked about using Microsoft Word and Adobe Professional to create ebooks, and the pros and cons of each. I've been writing ebooks for almost three years, and while these two products are good, they have their limitations. The best program I've come across yet to write your own ebooks is a product called Ebook Pro.

For those who are concerned that an ebook program will be too complicated for them to learn, fear not! Ebook Pro is about as simple a program as there is. All you have to do is click on a button or two, name your ebook, and start writing!

Ebook Pro also allows easy insertion of images, charts, and just about anything else you want to put into your ebook. And whether you're writing about soup or nuts, you'll want to put some simple illustrations into your ebook to make it more interesting to your readers.

The best feature of Ebook Pro, even better than its simplicity, is the username and password feature. You simply have to have some kind of password protection on your ebooks, or they're going to be heavily pirated - that is, someone will take your ebook and post it on a site where others can post it for free. That takes money out of your pocket!

While some ebook programs will allow only a single password to be assigned to your ebook, Ebook Pro will create different username and passwords for every single purchaser of your ebook! It just doesn't get any better than that. And once your ebook really takes off, Ebook Pro will even help you automate the distribution of your ebooks. Creating An Effective ABOUT ME Page For Your eBook Business On eBay

Just skip all the stuff and start listing your products, that's probably the advice most eBay experts would give you, but not me. The most important aspect of your internet eBay business when selling eBooks is your overall account appearance. Think about how many more sales you get as a PowerSeller, or even just a regular member with fifty plus positive feedback. The amount that trust plays in customers making a purchase cannot be underestimated. Therefore it is important to build an eBay account that gives every potential customers as much of a chance to get to know you as possible. The about me page is a easy way to make this happen, and best of all, is free for your to use.

Since you are selling eBooks on eBay the about me page should be as appropriate towards your niche as possible. This means you don't want to just talk about your favorite kind of food, or your pet dog, but about your expertise in selling electronic publications such as eBooks. The more eBooks you sell on eBay the more users that will potentially be able to view your about me page. This is the only page on your visible eBay profile that will allow for you to list a website link. This is crucial to help boost business for free. If you have a website, make sure to include it in the about me page. If you don't yet have a website, you should at least build a small one to cultivate email address, and get customer feedback, once this is built, make sure the link gets put on your about me page on eBay.

The other thing that the about me page is good for is promoting customer loyalty. Make sure to further your brand by telling customers your vision, and promise for their eBook needs. Talk about how you want to sell them a eBook every week that will help them with various parts of their life. Give them an idea of what type of discounts frequent customers can achieve, and where to sign up for such discounts. The more details you give your customers on the about me page the better off you will be when it comes to long term eBook sales on eBay.

Lastly make sure to put all relevant contact information on your about me page. This is as important as any other element on the page. If you feel comfortable enough, feel free to leave your home phone number, and personal email address. This information will help customers get in touch with you when they are ready to make a purchase. Once the about me page is setup, watch as sales start to increase on your eBook sales on eBay.

How to Sell and Market Your Ebook in 10 Easy Steps

Electronic books, or ebooks, are one of the quickest ways to make yourself an infopreneur, or someone who makes money by selling information. As a service business owner, it's also a simple way to sell the information that you have spent countless hours amassing to all of those who want to buy what you know but who cannot afford to hire you as a service provider.

The most effective way to market your ebook is via a one-page website. If you already have a website, I recommend that you set up a separate stand-alone page for this ebook. Most domain registrars will permit you to forward and mask your product domain to an internal page of your current website. If you don't have a site, you can create a one-page site with its own hosting.

Here's what you need to know to successfully market your ebook via a one-page website:

1. An identifiable target market. Ebooks work best as a product for a very specific niche market, like an ebook on how to teach your dog tricks, how to effectively meditate to relieve stress, or how to find a green career. You need to be able to identify and describe your target market, from determining what the target market needs and what they'll pay for (as well as how much they will pay) to what publications they read, what groups/associations do they belong to, and where they hang out both on- and offline. Make sure you understand what your target market needs and how to reach them before proceeding to the next step.

2. A domain name. The domain name for your ebook site should mirror or closely resemble your product name or a prominent feature of your product. So, for example, if you are a hypnotherapist and you have a podcast that you're selling on how to use hypnosis to lose weight, then you'd want to try and get a domain name like LoseWeightFast.com. Try and get the .com version of your domain name if possible, but if that's not available, seek out the hyphenated version of the .com domain name.

3. A give-away. You have two goals for your ebook site: get the contact info from your visitors and convert them into paying customers. Because not everyone will buy your primary product (thus providing you with their contact information), you need another strategy to collect your prospect's information. The best way to obtain contact info from a visitor is to create a free giveaway that's closely related to the product that you're selling in which the content is so compelling that the visitor gladly parts with his/her name and primary email address to obtain the free giveaway. By giving you their contact information, they have become a warm lead and you can start to develop a relationship with them. You can then develop a series of 3-6 follow-up autoresponders to upsell them to purchasing your product.

4. A merchant account. In order to collect payments, you need to be able to take credit card payments online and provide electronic product delivery. I use and highly recommend PracticePaySolutions.com, a company that works with many coaches, consultants and speakers. Your merchant account company needs to offer a "virtual terminal", which lets you enter and process transactions online and interfaces with your shopping cart program.

The most commonly used virtual terminal is that provided by Authorize.net. If you don't want to invest in a merchant account, you can begin by using third-party processors like PayPal or ClickBank, but they offer less flexibility than a full merchant service.

6. Shopping cart software. Ultimately, your shopping cart software will be a workhorse for you and enable you to automate many functions of your online business. The cart that I highly recommend is KickStartCart.com, which offers a great deal of flexibility in how you list and bundle products, gives buyers a 24-hour download URL for downloading your electronic product, has built-in autoresponders so you can automatically follow up with your buyers, and provides an email broadcast function so that you can send out special notices to the customers or prospects on your list.

7. Sales letter page. This is the primary sales page of your ebook website, containing a long sales letter with benefits of your product and testimonials of others who've used the product. In many ways, this has now become the electronic version of the 6-10 page direct sales letters that used to be sent to us regularly via snail mail. The formula for writing an effective one-page sales letter site includes an attention-getting headline, a strong opening statement, body of the letter that outlines the features and benefits of what you're offering, the actual offer itself, several testimonials from happy purchasers, and then a request for the sale. Most sales letter pages are constructed very similarly. If you look and compare other one page websites, you'll find this style used again and again.

8. Follow-up auto responders. It's always easier to sell to someone who has already purchased from you than to convert a new prospect to a customer. Therefore, the ability to continue to reach out and "touch" your customers is key in developing a relationship with them so that they continue to buy. I create a series of 3-6 follow-up autoresponders that are sent out over the 3 weeks following a purchase to check in with the purchaser and to interest the purchaser in another item.

9. Traffic to the site. Because your ebook site is only one page, it will be virtually ignored in the organic search engine ranking process. There's simply not enough content to warrant a high ranking on any keyword you might choose. The easiest way to drive traffic to a one-page web site is to purchase keywords, or pay-per-click advertising. Google's Adwords is the best-known pay-per-click advertiser. You can also generate traffic to this site by holding teleclasses or webinars on some topic covered in your ebook, creating a series of articles with a link back to your product in the resource box, or create a blog or an article directory devoted to the topic of your ebook.

10. Additional selling features. Once you've created you one page ebook website , you may want to add additional selling features, especially if the ebook is priced more than $50. You could create additional pages in which you print a chapter excerpt, your table of contents, or an invitation to sign up for your product's affiliate program.

Writing an eBook is as Simple as Talking to a Friend

For a long time, I resisted writing ebooks. After all, why write a $27 ebook, when you can create a $447 multi-media home study course? Why risk losing the big sale when by offering an inexpensive ebook?

Let me give you several reasons and then I will show you an easy way to create an ebook that doesn't require writing at all! First, an ebook provides a low cost way for a prospective customer to get to know you. Many people would rather spend $27 to see if you are legit, before spending $447 and risk getting burned. An ebook gives them an opportunity to test the waters first. If they are comfortable, then they will be willing to risk more.

Second, an ebook allows you to reach a broader market. Let's be honest. You only have so many names on your email list and there are tons of people who want to become your customers...they just don't know it yet! Huge home study courses usually require complicated affiliate programs and thus, this reduces the number of people who will help you market your course.

Ebooks, on the other hand, are very portable and using a company like ClickBank allows thousands of people you have never met to promote your ebook for you. Think of your ebooks as little ambassadors, reaching people you can not physically send a message to.

Ebooks also lead to bigger products, such as your $447 home study course. If they liked your ebook, then they will love your home study course that has step-by-step videos instead of just screen shots in a pdf file. And they will certainly love your three day workshop where you go beyond the step-by-step videos and actually show them in real time how to do whatever it is your ebook is teaching.

So what is the bad news? Who wants to sit down and grind out an ebook? Not me! So, I talk my way through an ebook. I schedule a free teleseminar, invite interested people to the teleseminar, have them send questions in advance and then record the teleseminar. I then have the recording transcribed, lightly edit the transcription and convert the whole thing to a pdf file.

How to Price Your eBook

You've written and compiled an ebook. Now you have to decide how much to charge for it. Finding the right price is essential to the success of your product. If you charge too little, people will think it's of little value, and they won't purchase it, or even it they do buy your book, you will have to sell thousands of copies to get to the point where you can begin to see a profit. If you price it too high when compared with your competition, you will find yourself steadily lowering the price, which will cause you all kinds of new problems in the future. For example, if you sell your ebook at first for $39.99, and later reduce it to $24.95, don't you think the people who bought it for $39.99 are going to be PISSED?

Choosing the right price for your ebook is one of the most critical parts of the marketing process. The first rule of pricing ebooks is to never underprice. Determine the highest price your audience can afford, and then if you find your book isn?t selling, you can always reduce the price. Before you take that step, make sure you are promoting your book like crazy on the Internet and on websites. The price should be aimed at bringing in profits, but you should never forget that price is one of the factors that people use in judging the value of your ebook ? before they buy it. So always start with the highest price, and then launch a mega-marketing campaign.

Pricing an ebook is particularly difficult because ebooks are a fairly new commodity. Since they are digital, the value of an ebook is as confusing as the understanding of what digital actually is to the average layperson. This means that we must look at ebooks in a different light in order to determine their actual worth in this brave, new cyber world.

Let's look at the difference between a book in print and an ebook. A printed book is an object you can hold in your hand, store on your bookshelf, even hand down to the next generation. It is priced on factors such as paper stock, design and production costs, and marketing.

But the fact that unites ebooks and print books is that they are composed of ideas. It is the ideas in these books that have the ability to change, or possibly transform, people's lives.

What do you think an idea is worth when evaluated against the cost of paper and ink?

It is the IDEAS that are valuable! That is how you determine the cost of your ebook.

What should I charge for my ideas?

There are all different formulas and methods for determining the correct price for your ebook. Let's begin with honing in on your ultimate goals.

Decide if your goal is to get wide distribution and maximum exposure. This goal is aimed at drawing customers to your business or service, or to establishing the credibility of your reputation. If this is your main goal, you should aim to keep your price on the low side. Some authors have even priced their ebooks at a profit loss to draw a high number of new customers. The key is to find a price that maximizes your profits and the number of books you sell.

This is an excellent pricing strategy if you are looking to acquire long-term customers. Long-term customers are extremely likely to buy from you again and again ? as long as the first ebook they buy is of exceptional quality and beneficial to the customer.

However, if your book contains valuable ? and more importantly NEW information, references, or techniques ? then you should aim to price it on the high end.

After you figure out your goal, you must figure out what your audience's need is for your ebook. For example, does your book solve a particular problem? If it does, and solves it in a way that hasn't been written about in one hundred other ebooks, you will be able to achieve high sales at a high price. If your book solves a problem or answers questions in a new and unique way, you should price your book as high as you can go. You will achieve larger profits this way, but bring in fewer customers. Just make sure the question or problem that your book solves is one that is important and relevant to the majority of your market audience. If your ideas are not common knowledge, or you are presenting a brand new technique, you will be able to sell books at a high price. Just be prepared for your competition to undercut you on price as soon as they hear about your book.

Keep in mind that the above pricing strategy is temporary. Eventually, you will cease to sell books at this high price. So figure out in advance how long you plan to offer your ebook at this high price, and when that time is up, change your pricing strategy.

If you want to see large profits over customer draw, aim for an audience that is looking for easy solutions to their problems at a low price. If your book is aimed at solving one particular problem rather than general advice, then you can charge more. Start at the highest price the market will bear to bring in the largest profits, and plan to discount the book a number of times throughout the year.

Marketing Strategies

The key that unlocks the sales potential of your ebook is to find a single sentence that becomes your selling handle. This sentence states what question or problem your book answers and the benefits your ebook can provide. Then be sure to use that sentence in every piece of sales and promotional material, and every time anyone asks you about your ebook.

Besides promoting your books assiduously online, there are several other strategies that can help you sell more books.

One is to give something away for free with your book, such as a valuable bonus item. Or bundle several ebooks under one price, which lowers the price for each ebook if they were sold separately.

An effective technique for figuring out a price is to send out a survey to your current customers. If these customers have already bought an ebook from you, ask for their opinion in terms of price. Do this by creating a sales page for the new book, but don't include a price on that page. Instead, add a number of links to survey questions that ask pointed questions to aid you in assigning a price to your ebook.

Another strategy is to test out prices by creating a number of duplicate sales pages with different prices on each page. Make sure your sales copy is exactly the same on every page, and includes your selling-handle sentence. Then figure out for each page the conversion ratio between visitors to your site and sales of your book. This will tell you what your optimum price is.

Ultimately, if you've written a book that solves a problem or presents a new technique, your book will bring in both traffic and profits. So be sure to write that selling-handle sentence that sums up what problem your book solves and what the benefits of your book will be to the customers who purchase it. And then watch your market come to you!

How To Become A Millionaire Within Five Years - Part 3

Today I'm going to tell you the third part of the process about how to become a millionaire in five years

LANE #4 - THE INTERNET

I'm not going to tell you that making money online is easy, but like all wealth creation, it's simple when you know how.

I created a six-figure turnover business, The Money Gym, using a very simple marketing plan, online, but I had to work at it. But every month the passive income element of that business grew and grew and I built it one block at a time.

The most wonderful thing about the internet, is the low level of intial investment required. If you have time and no money, you can learn to do it yourself (I did) or if you have more money than time, and know what you want to achieve, you can outsource most of it. Making money online is a bit like becoming a millionaire in five years - simple but not easy! You can make money online by:

1. Promoting your real world business more effectively using the internet - using an EFFECTIVE website to generate more leads, building an ezine mailing list, Search Engine Optimisation, and Google Adwords to explode your traffic.

2. Creating spin off automated products from your real world business - like our client Paula Gardner did with www.DoYourOwnPR.com. See the section below for ideas.

3. Creating a series of one page websites, each to sell one ebook (or other product) - either your own, or as an affiliate.

4. Creating traffic flow and then recommending good products and service to them via affiliate links and an ezine. You can also make money from Google Adsense, which provides instant income which will build with your traffic.

5. Creating a free/paid level membership site (just think.....17,000 people paying you #5 a month is #1.02 million PER YEAR)

Which of these you decide on will depend on whether you have a real world business or expertise or not. I like to recommend people work through these in order, starting from the quick and simple routes to more income immediately and building up to the bigger projects.

However, and this is the most important element for synergy and focus between all your projects, and the part that many novice (and even more experienced!!) internet entrepreneurs get wrong.

Always choose and then working around a niche topic/subject - hobbies, leisure activities such as rowing, rock-climbing, obscure cuisines or knitting for example.

Or choose a broad topic (business building for example) ideally one in which you have some expertise, but offer it for a really tight niche of people (reiki healers as opposed to holistic therapists) or female accountants, for example.

IS MY WEBSITE WORKING?

As soon as someone asks me this, we ask them to find out the following:

1. Number of unique visitors to this page per week

2. Number of unique visitors to the sales page per week

3. Number of sales if any

4. Number of new additions to existing database / mailing list per week

5. Average value of sale (so if you sell a t-shirt for $20 and one for $10, the average value of sale would be $15)

6. Average profit per sale

These figures will enable us to work out

1. Conversion of unique visitors to leads in %

2. Conversion of unique visitors to sales in %

3. The value of each subscriber

4. The Value of each visitor

We would also be asking you to look up the main referring key words that people are using to find your page. You will find your website host gives you a statistics package where you can find this information.

Then I would be asking you how much (i.e. what percentage) of your income do you want to come from which potential income producing activity around your niche.

Potential other income streams include:

a) 101 tips - free b) ebook - 17.50 - 27.50 (but do it in dollars not pounds) c) one-off teleclasses 27.50 - 27.50 but record it and resell later d) membership site - 17,000 people giving you 5 a month = 1.02 million per year e) one day workshops - sell for 147 discounted to 97 for early birds d) group coaching programme - 79.50 a month - how many can you handle? e) 1:2:1 premium coaching programme - 279.50 - 379.50 per month - how many can you handle? f) associate fees - say 5 new associates per year paying XXX each to become your associate g) physical product - XXX - dropshipped ideally from manufacturer/supplier to customer h) any other ideas?

Ok. our business model has been decided on, we have established our products / services and we have decided on subject matter and the group of people we are aiming at. Even when you are affiliate marketing with other people's products and services, it's made easier by knowing who you want to attract to your internet business.

SO WHAT DO YOU NEED, AND IN WHAT ORDER?

I have seen many types of websites come and go, many tools and bits of software, and we have finally honed the Money Gym site into a finely tuned money making and client attracting machine. This is our business model for The Money Gym for new (cold) traffic.

1. Blog gets us indexed in search engines and attracts new visitors. We Also use PR/SEO/Google Adwords

2. Welcome / Squeeze page to convert visitors to mailing list.

3. Offered chance to win good value prizes by referring friends - choose yes or no

4. If yes, refer friends, get prize, jumped to ebook sales page. If no, jumped to ebook sales page

5. Ebook sales page, bundled with free month at Silver level of membership site

6. Decide to buy ebook / trial membership and click "buy now" button

7. Offered chance to buy ebook / paperback version / 3 months free trial of site

8. Decide yes (click to buy) or no (just buy ebook) or join mailing list

9. If just click to close page, popunder box offers free Wealth Tips (101 x tips & ezine)

The most exciting thing of all is that, since putting in the above system and getting all the elements right, we are now looking at a systematic conversion of traffic to subscribers, to sales of the ebook, of sales of the upsell offer, to trial memberships, to retention of memberships. We have worked out which percentage of visitors will take which action, at every stage of the process.

And you know what that means, don't you? More traffic = more visitors = more conversions = more revenue = more profit.

We are looking at an automated, predictable money machine, and what's more all of that is just the FRONT END.

SO WHERE DO I START NICOLA?

Here's my guide to getting started, quickly and inexpensively. what to do, in which order.

1. Set up a blog. Used Typepad or Wordpress (outsource the latter)

2. Attach it to a mailing list via a good shopping cart (you will need it later)

3. Use a "refer a friend" script at the point of signup

4. Set up a private Google Group, put signup box on blog

5. Blog every day, or at least once a week (and get your blog fed onto your MySpace/Facebook profiles via an RSS feed)

6. Set up profiles on MySpace, Facebook, Squidoo, Ecademy as a minimum, and link to your blog

7. Send even more traffic using Google Adwords, learn how to make video for YouTube

8. Set up Google Adsense on your blog

9. Find some GOOD products and services with affiliate schemes (sell our ebook, earn #12.50 per sale) and recommend on blog side panel, social network sites. Use a good affiliate link cloaking service.

10. Start creating a community / membership site - free membership until you get to 1000, then set up next level, under #5 / $10 a month

And my final tip, just make the decision that 2008 is the year that you will make a passive income online. If you just make enough to take two holidays a year, wouldn't that be worth turning off the TV occasionally?
